35 YEARS OF KING TUBBY’S AND STILL GOING STRONG

On Saturday 2nd April, Cecil, King Tubby’s celebrated 35 years of sound system excellence.

Hundreds attended this memorable occasion and took part in this unique celebration, not only a celebration but also a wonderful achievement and inspiration to all. Many past sound members honoured King Tubby’s by returning to the decks to ‘spin a few tunes’ including Jiggs, Baby Jiggs (Jigga Man - Choice FM) Cepty and Cecil’s younger brother Mikey (MJR).

I give thanks to you all!

On this night Cecil received a Gold Disc Award presented to him by Baby Jiggs from all of his supporters for making King Tubby’s the great sound it is today. My appreciation goes out to Daddy Ernie (Choice FM – 96.9), Courtenay Melody (Vibes FM – 93.8) and Blacka P (Vibes FM – 93.8) for playing on the night and promoting the dance on the airwaves.

You are the ones who provide the people with great music to listen to day in day out, representing the sounds that are only able to do this when venues are available. I would personally like to thank all who came down to Slammers on Saturday, Sound Members Past and Present . Bucky, Scrappa, Big U and Dueane (Big D), you are all part of King Tubby’s and have helped in making my dad’s sound go from strength to strength.
